Presenter: Dr. Josh Baker, Tulsa Community College Dr. Joshua Baker is currently a Faculty Department Chair and Associate Professor of Mathematics at Tulsa Community College. He has been an educator for 25 years, serving in K-12 for 13 years before transitioning to higher education at TCC. Dr. Hayden Harrington is an Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity and Director of Esports at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Esports is one of the fastest-growing segments in sports and entertainment. SWOSU is a highly recognized name in the Esports world and they even have their own area on the Weatherford campus. In this presentation, Dr. Harrington will share his research on how Esports contributes to student retention and discuss how K - 12 and higher education institutions can develop their own Esports program to promote student success. The purpose of this professional development presentation is to acquire an understanding of the different language profiles of native and heritage language Spanish speakers and learners and how this understanding influences their English language proficiency and preparation to advance in their higher education pursuits and academic success. As AI technologies continue to rapidly evolve, how can universities make strategic decisions about when and how AI can support student learning and faculty research? Ithaka S+R, a not-for-profit research organization, is partnering with 20 universities committed to making AI generative for their campus communities to develop and implement institution-specific strategies for integrating AI into higher education.
