Celebrating Disability Pride Month
By Justice Jones and Aaron Wilson
This July, we’re proudly celebrating Disability Pride Month by recognizing the vital work of the Tulsa Higher Education Consortium’s Student Wellbeing and Accessibility Services Community of Practice. Through the collaborative efforts across our member institutions—including the College of the Muscogee, Langston University, Northeastern State University, OSU-Tulsa, OU-Tulsa, Rogers State University, Southern Nazarene University, Tulsa Community College, and the University of Tulsa — this community actively works to break down barriers and create more inclusive educational environments.
The Student Wellbeing and Accessibility Services Community of Practice is a cornerstone of THE Consortium’s mission to promote student success and degree completion across Northeast Oklahoma. By fostering regular cooperation and communication between institutions, this initiative drives innovation in accessibility services, shares best practices for supporting students with disabilities, and develops strategies to ensure all students have equal opportunities to thrive in higher education. Be sure to check out the High School Accommodation Guide, a valuable resource developed by this CoP.
THE Consortium is also excited to announce that Jesse Chaffin will lead the Student Wellbeing and Accessibility Services Community of Practice for the 2025-2026 school year. Jesse is currently the Health and Wellness Manager at OSU-CHS and brings decades of experience serving students and championing their mental and physical wellness.
If you are interested in getting involved in the Student Wellbeing and Accessibility Services CoP, or any other CoP offered by THE Consortium, please feel free to reach out!
